Description

This lesson explores how mathematical relationships act as a powerful language for describing real-world patterns - perfect for helping your students distinguish between adding and multiplying through clear explanations, thought-provoking challenges, and engaging real life scenarios!

Knowledge and Skills Covered:

๐Ÿ’ก Knowledge:

I know that multiplicative relationships are used to find equivalent ratios. In this lesson, we focus on identifying if a relationship is built on adding a fixed amount or multiplying by a scale factor (ratio and scale terms not used, yet).

โœ๏ธ Skills:

I can use the "for every..." sentence stem to describe the relationship between two quantities. In this lesson, we use this language to test if a relationship remains constant as quantities grow.

Whatโ€™s Included?

Your download includes everything you need for a successful lesson:

๐Ÿ“ Unit Overview Notes: Outlines the knowledge, skills, and pre-requisites for the entire unit. This lesson is part of a 5 lesson unit, exploring 'How does the relationship between parts define the whole?'

๐Ÿ“– Detailed Lesson Walkthrough/Notes: Includes a step-by-step guide with guiding questions and key discussion points.

โ“Guiding Questions: Great opportunities for AfL throughout your lesson, designed to help your students draw on their previous learning and make purposeful connections.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿซ Lesson Slides: Engaging slides to guide your lesson.

๐Ÿ“ Lesson Activities: Includes accessible, low-floor high ceiling activities that all students can access through adaptive teaching, leading to improved confidence. There are also opportunities embedded in the lesson for further challenge to extend learners further and outlined strategies to enable learners.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Exit Ticket: A purposeful closing task which allows students to demonstrate their understanding, skills and knowledge - a great opportunity for AfL.

๐Ÿ’ป This download provides both the Editable PPT Version and the PDF Version.
