Alberta Math Grade 6 Unit 8 Transformations Unit Final
Aligned to Math Makes Sense (Pearson) but can be used with any text
You get:
- Unit Final
- 1 Unit Final Key
Things to know:
- Students use my material as review for unit finals and help get a better understanding of the concepts.
- Absent students can fill in the notes from the lesson plans to catch up.
- Substitute teacher? All they do is project the handout on the smartboard and teach from the lesson.
- Creating a homework package is a breeze, simply print the lesson and handouts, assign questions, and give it to the student or parents and send them on their way. (Especially helpful when vacations take place in the middle of the year!)
- Parents can help their kids!
- Principals love it because there are no more excuses!
How to use my lessons:
This package includes everything you need. It is designed to accompany Pearson's Math Makes Sense text series. However, any text can be used. The teacher projects the handout and completes the notes while teaching the lesson. Students follow along and complete their own handouts. Assignment questions are in the text, or you can create your own.
The lessons are easily converted to Distance learning, the teacher can send the handouts to the students electronically. Then teach the lesson on computer, as the students follow along at home and fill in their notes.
I use a Smart Board but projecting on a white board works just fine. Bell rings? No problem, simply pick up where you left off next time.
Learning Target for this Unit:
Students will:
- Identify and draw shapes in the first quadrant of a Cartesian plane.

- Predict and identify the image of a shape after two or more transformations.
- Use successive transformations to create or analyze designs.
- Interpret a problem and select an appropriate strategy.
- Use technology to create and analyze designs.
