Algebra II Common Core Guided Notes & Keys
Share

Description

This bundle contains editable Word documents for each lesson taught in my Algebra II Honors course. It has been implemented and refined systematically over the past 3 school years and has proven to be an effective and thorough curriculum at my Charter school in Brooklyn, NY in achieving high scores and improving pass rates for the Algebra II Common Core exam. The units included are as follows:

1. General Functions

2. Operations on Functions

3. Polynomial Functions

4. Rational & Radical Functions

5. Exponential & Logarithmic Functions

6. Sequences

7. Trigonometric Functions

8. Probability

9. Statistics

After the Statistics unit, there are 5 lessons that I have used in the past as a project for students to learn and teach to the class as well.

My recommendation for how to utilize this curriculum is to tailor the documents themselves to whatever meets the needs of your classroom. They are designed to be printed and handed out to the class so that the notes can be completed as a class with the teacher working through the same document on the front board. If you have a different style, change these around however you feel necessary. I have also found success with the flipped classroom model in this format.

There are 65 lessons of guided notes within this bundle. The gaps in numbering are to allow for the unit tests and, again, the numbers can be changed or removed should you choose to do so. With 65 lessons and 9 unit tests there is time to spend a day extra on more challenging topics, review for exams, and administer quizzes as you see fit. When I teach this course I am usually finished with the final lesson by mid-May, leaving at least a month to focus on review for the state exam.

As I progress through the course this year I will be making my answer keys available through TPT as well with my suggested practice problems and annotations in a separate bundle.

Explain how the definition of the meaning of rational exponents follows from extending the properties of integer exponents to those values, allowing for a notation for radicals in terms of rational exponents. For example, we define 5 to the 1/3 power to be the cube root of 5 because we want (5 to the 1/3 power)Β³ = 5 to the (1/3)(3) power to hold, so (5 to the 1/3 power)Β³ must equal 5.
Know there is a complex number π˜ͺ such that π˜ͺΒ² = –1, and every complex number has the form 𝘒 + 𝘣π˜ͺ with 𝘒 and 𝘣 real.
Use the relation π˜ͺΒ² = –1 and the commutative, associative, and distributive properties to add, subtract, and multiply complex numbers.
