Description
This Algebra 1 project two pack is the perfect way to vary the assessments in your class! It covers writing linear functions and exponential functions. Each semester, offer a project that lets your students apply what they've learned to the real world as well as express their creativity!
In the linear functions project, students will practice
- writing equations of lines in slope-intercept, point-slope and standard forms.
- converting equations to slope-intercept form
- identifying slope, y-intercept, x-intercept, and other data points
- identifying the significance of each in relation to the real world situation
- graphing the equations they wrote
Students will then create their own real world situation and a visual representation to accompany it. This may be in any form: drawing, poster board, video, Google Slides or PowerPoint Presentation, or any other medium. The students can choose a topic and medium to showcase their own interests and talents!
In the exponential functions project, students get to use their creativity as they design their own brochure. In this project, they will
- Provide a fun illustration
- Give background info or fun facts
- Select an appropriate formula and substitute values
- Complete a table of values
- Graph the function
- Identify key characteristics of the graph
- Interpret data points
- Reflect on the project
