Description

This bundle includes all of my algebra related products! There are notes templates, digital activities, and practice questions. Solving equations, data tables, graphs, and introduction to algebraic foundations. I utilize all of these products in my Math 8 classroom in Alberta Canada.

The topics included are:

* terminology

*Opposite operations

*Algebra tiles

*Notation

*Open ended challenge questions to test students full understanding

*Coefficients that are fractions, and negative fractions

* One Step Equations

*Two Step Equations

*Distributive Property (with values greater than one, and less than one)

* Combining/ collecting like terms

* variables on both sides

I always try to include examples where the most common mistakes are made. For example students often forget the variable is negative in examples like -4= 3 - x. Or where the end of the question has -4=-x, and students need to remove the negative still. By including these common mistakes in notes, students are reinforced to overcome the misconceptions.

Note templates are designed to help further develop students numeracy with discussion on different approaches and building their confidence. I often say to students make the equation more friendly for you!

Write, read, and evaluate expressions in which letters stand for numbers.
Write expressions that record operations with numbers and with letters standing for numbers. For example, express the calculation โ€œSubtract ๐˜บ from 5โ€ as 5 - ๐˜บ.
Identify parts of an expression using mathematical terms (sum, term, product, factor, quotient, coefficient); view one or more parts of an expression as a single entity. For example, describe the expression 2 (8 + 7) as a product of two factors; view (8 + 7) as both a single entity and a sum of two terms.
