Description

Introduce linear relationships to your 6th graders with this comprehensive interactive math notebook set. Teach about table, equation, and graph representations of algebraic relationships written in y=ax or y=x+a form. Go from each representation to each of the other algebraic representations and discern the difference between additive relationships and multiplicative relationships in each form.

Teach about independent and dependent variables and how those affect the appearance of tables, graphs, and equations.

This set includes half-page notes that fits perfectly in a composition book:

  • Independent and Dependent Variables
  • Representing Linear Relationships with Tables
  • Representing Linear Relationships with Graphs
  • Representing Linear Relationships with Equations
  • Additive vs. Multiplicative Relationships

Two activities:

  • Additive vs. Multiplicative Flip Book
  • Algebraic Representations Flip Books

A 4-question quizzes:

  • Algebraic Relationships Assessment

A digital version is also included! This Google Slides file can be used in Google Classroom or other virtual learning platform to teach your students remotely or paperless!

Check out the preview to see everything included!

Use variables to represent two quantities in a real-world problem that change in relationship to one another; write an equation to express one quantity, thought of as the dependent variable, in terms of the other quantity, thought of as the independent variable. Analyze the relationship between the dependent and independent variables using graphs and tables, and relate these to the equation. For example, in a problem involving motion at constant speed, list and graph ordered pairs of distances and times, and write the equation š˜„ = 65š˜µ to represent the relationship between distance and time.
