Description

This FREE allusions worksheet is perfect as a minilesson, practice, or formative assessment for high school students learning to identify and analyze rhetorical or literary devices.

This 2-page worksheet defines and gives examples of common allusions within a text with example analysis. Then, students practice identifying allusions in two short practice passages and practice analyzing the impact of them on the argument. The activity on the second page asks students to research and use common allusions in a brief writing prompt.

An Answer Key with model responses is included.

Both a Google Doc digital version and PDF printable version (with lines for writing) are included for flexible classroom use.

This activity also supplements the MyPerspectives ELA curriculum or any ELA curriculum studying famous speeches.

I bought the bundle after using this in class. These are such wonderful accessible practices for Rhetorical Devices. They only take like a day, I had a great mini lecture and then the students dived into the activity themselves. I would even be willing to leave these with a sub as a worksheet!
