Description

This is a timeline activity where students complete research about five events that contributed to the colonists revolting against the British government. The five events are:

*The Seven Years' War

*The Stamp Act

*The Sugar Act

*The Townshend Acts

*The Boston Massacre

Specific "student-friendly" websites are provided. The students will put the events in the correct order on a timeline, then provide a description of each event on the pages that follow. There is also a spot for any other interesting information they found during their research.

I use this activity with my class as we start the novel George Washington's Socks. We do the research in class with the school iPads or laptops. It gives the students an overview of why the Revolutionary War began without getting into endless amounts of research and stealing focus from the novel.

This was an exceptionally wonderful assignment. The depth of information was very good. It is very easy to get bogged down with this subject but this allowed us to move at a good pace and gain the information needed.
