Description

American Sign Language resources for your classroom.

Teaching social-emotional skills can be a challenge in many classrooms, but it's even a bigger challenge for students who have limited access to language.

As a teacher of the deaf, I realized after many years of frustration, that my students using American Sign Language struggled with social-emotional skills because they didn’t have the vocabulary to discuss their behavior and build positivity. They hadn’t been exposed to the vocabulary in American Sign Language and English and rarely had “social rules” explained to them.

I designed these activities with these students using American Sign Language in mind. The activities are equipped with LOTS OF REPETITION and lots of opportunities for students and teachers to discuss what they see. These books include examples of correct behavior as well as examples of incorrect behaviors. This gives you and your students an opportunity to discuss what the positive and negative behaviors, look like, sound like, feel like etc.

Really good, a bit repetitive and I wish there was more diversity of signers... but they are very pretty for decor.

I used this resource in my pull out session with the Deaf student I work with. This was helpful to discuss proper behavior when he has limited language, just learning ASL.
