An Inquiry into…ACTION (Social Studies)
Appropriate for grades 4-6 & Homeschool
PURPOSE:
These 12 activities will help your students explore the idea of ACTION. The activities were created to appeal to the multiple intelligences and give opportunity to delve into many aspects of this big idea. Have students choose one activity from each column in a rotation or use whichever activities you like most in your classroom.
WHAT’S INCLUDED:
This product contains:
☆12 different 30-minute activities exploring the idea of ACTION
☆A reflection page for after the activities
☆Activities that appeal to multiple intelligences so students will be drawing, creating, listing, organizing, reading, writing and discussing
STORY:
After teaching the same relative 5th grade curriculum for two years, I decided to spice things up for my students by taking our big ideas of the year like ACTION, BELIEF, INFLUENCE, PROGRESS and DISTRIBUTION and creating rotations for students to participate in. After pitching the idea to my teaching team, they agreed to devote an entire morning in each unit to whole grade rotations. So I set out to create a menu of activities that allow students to explore the topic through a wide variety of methods. And thus, these rotation menus were born. They are flexible and can be used in a variety of ways.
