This lesson covering animal adaptations & migration through the seasons has 4 printable worksheets and activities, an editable lesson plan, a review mini quiz, and a 20 slide power point with animations that shows real pictures as well as great animations to help keep your kids engaged with a great visual aide. This detailed lesson contains everything you need to teach your students about seasonal changes of animals in different regions with a specific focus on animal adaptations, migration, and hibernation.

This lesson addresses the question: “How can we compare seasonal changes of animals in different regions?” Your students will build formative knowledge about animal adaptations that animals must utilize to survive in their environment, like growing thicker fur or changing their color to adapt to their surroundings. The migratory habits of many animals such as whales, butterflies, birds, caribou and wildebeests are also addressed. This lesson has excellent visuals and various examples for them to learn from and think critically whether they are answering a higher order thinking question from the power point, or they are answering a question from one of the reading articles or the mini quiz.

During the direct instruction lesson, students will take notes on their student note-taker provided, while they listen to you teach a direct instruction lesson that goes along with the 20 slide animated power point included in this product. Your students will learn so much from the images and animations included in this presentation. The animations are all pre-planned and pre-timed and you will love how well they hold your students’ attention and greatly help them to understand seasonal changes of animals in different regions and climates.

This lesson will fill at least two science blocks but potentially even three depending on the length of your science period and if you are using all of the additional printable resources provided.
