Description

Teach students how to write simple algorithms to move multiple sprites at once. Your kids will love the ability to make their name move and personalize it. In addition, they will learn about loops, conditionals, real-time debugging, and how to reset sprites.

Would you like to teach students how to write looping and conditional algorithms in a fun and engaging way? Students learn the following skills with this no-prep mini unit:

  • choose a background.
  • insert multiple sprites.
  • customize sprites to make a new costume.
  • write code to reset a sprite back to its original size, direction, and location.
  • write and debug algorithms that include loops and conditional statements. 
  • use a sensing block within a conditional block.
  • run multiple lines of code at once.

All of this can be accomplished in three to five lessons. This is perfect for December's Hour of Code and Computer Science Month

After downloading these resources, you’ll receive:

  • 3 standards-based lessons that support AASL, ISTE, and CSTA standards.
  • Planning sheet to help students prepare before they sit down to program. 
  • Slideshow that outlines the process step-by-step. The slideshow includes vocabulary, reflection questions, detailed screenshots, and video tutorials. 
  • 4 digital choice boards for independent learning or early finishers. Perfect for students who can learn on their own!
