These number subitizing to 10 number search mats focus on number recognition and counting to 10.

Subitizing or number sense is an important skill that will benefit students in counting, composing and decomposing numbers. In this resource students will learn to recognize numbers, match numbers and number words, recognize patterns of dots, counting to 10, counting fingers and tally marks.

Included are six sets of number mats in color and black and white. Also included are 99 number and subitizing cards. These cards cover the numbers 0-10 and come in color and black and white.

Included in this resource:

Mat 1 : Apple number search mat Identify the number on the card, color the matching number in the apple and trace the number.

Set 2 : Apple number search mat Identify the number on the card, color the matching number in the apple. On the empty space on the mat, you can provide any manipulative you have on hand and get students to count out that many apple mini erasers, snap cubes, pom poms or any manipulative will work.

Mat 3 : half page option of Mat 2. Laminate and place into a center or give the black and white version and use it as a worksheet/recording sheet.

Mat 4 : Apple basket ten frame mat. Identify the number on the card and fill in the ten frame to match. Laminate and use a dry erase marker and turn it into a center you can use over and over again. Or provide any small manipulative, even some red dough that they roll!

Mat 5: Apple tree mat. Identify the number on the card and add that many apples or manipulatives onto the tree. You can use mini apple toys or apple mini erasers, red snap cubes or any manipulative you have that you like, Alternatively you can print the apple counters provided in this document.

Mat 6: half page option of mat 5. Use any small manipulative you have. Red beads, mini erasers, pom poms etc

Print the mats and cards you want to use and laminate them. Cut out the cards and add some manipulatives and dry erase markers and you have a fun and engaging center to use during the first months back at school, during the fall season or anytime of the year!
