Description
Extend your Transportation, Distribution & Logistics (TDL) CTE course with this Week 3 Applied Skills unit focused on transportation routing, trade-off analysis, inefficiency identification, and route optimization. This 5-day Applied TDL unit (40–50 minute lessons) moves students beyond warehouse systems into professional transportation planning and optimization thinking.
Designed for Grades 6–12, this project-based Transportation & Logistics resource places students in the role of transportation planners and route analysts. Students analyze delivery routes, evaluate distance-time-cost trade-offs, identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks, redesign routes for efficiency, and defend their decisions using professional reasoning.
Rather than choosing the shortest route by default, students learn how logistics professionals balance priorities, accept trade-offs, and justify decisions—core skills used in transportation planning, logistics coordination, fleet management, and supply chain operations.
This resource functions as Week 3 of a 4-Week Applied Transportation, Distribution & Logistics Extension, but may also be taught as a stand-alone transportation routing and optimization mini-unit in CTE, Business, or STEM courses.
