Description

An engaging, real word project/activity for students to investigate the landing of a commercial plane in the Hudson River.

Students use their knowledge of all 3 trig ratios and their inverse to solve all the aspects in this activity.

materials required:

poster paper or butcher paper

colors (markers or colored pencils)

protractor

ruler and / or yard stick
calculator

I have included instructions, and rubric in 3 formats (PDF, word, and ODT)

I also have included a sheet with plane context for students, so they can consider real world implications while they work. (What does a 3 degree descent angle mean?)

Student Examples of varying accuracy are included.
