Description

Engage kids in math review practice with differentiated, no prep mystery math mazes in fun themes for Spring and the month of April! This math review worksheet packet provides kids with practice in 1st and 2nd grade math skills as they solve fun mysteries!

Who has rain boots? Who has an umbrella? Who wants to water plants? Who collects recycling? It’s a mystery! Students color the patterns that characters follow, counting by given numbers or completing mathematical problems to solve the mysteries. Skills include counting across decades, skip counting, addition and subtraction fact fluency, determining whether addition and subtraction equations are true or false, and identifying unknown numbers in equations.

DIFFERENTIATION MADE EASY!  These resources include two levels of mazes for each skill, providing choices to meet your learning objectives and your students’ needs. Scaffold instruction by increasing the level of complexity as you move through all of the activities with your whole class or group, differentiate according to individual student needs and abilities – or do both!

FUN MATH PRACTICE!  You won't believe how excited and engaged your kids will be as they practice essential math skills in such a fun way! Mysteries peak interest and hold student attention. Practice math skills without drills!

EASY TO USE! Consistent directions across all activities promote student independence. Mystery math mazes are highly engaging yet simple to understand, providing skill practice activities that anyone can implement with ease. Perfect for substitutes and families!

VERSATILE! Every maze presents different characters with different mysteries, allowing you and your students to use all of these mazes without repetition of the same paths or puzzles to solve.

NO PREP! Mystery math mazes are ready to print and go for a variety of purposes, saving you time as you plan lessons, math centers, small-group activities, independent work and homework. Answer keys are included.

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. In this range, read and write numerals and represent a number of objects with a written numeral.
Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. Use strategies such as counting on; making ten (e.g., 8 + 6 = 8 + 2 + 4 = 10 + 4 = 14); decomposing a number leading to a ten (e.g., 13 - 4 = 13 - 3 - 1 = 10 - 1 = 9); using the relationship between addition and subtraction (e.g., knowing that 8 + 4 = 12, one knows 12 - 8 = 4); and creating equivalent but easier or known sums (e.g., adding 6 + 7 by creating the known equivalent 6 + 6 + 1 = 12 + 1 = 13).
