Description
Activities in this product are based on Common Core Standard 3.MD.C.5. These activities provide conceptually understanding of area by using color tiles and geoboards (geoboard paper). These activities use a hands on, visual approach to understanding area.
Activity 1: Students use color tiles with a set area to find the figure’s dimensions
Activity 2: Students use color tiles to tile (without gaps or overlays) a figure to determine the area of a figure
Activity 3: Students use geoboards or geoboard paper provided to find the area of specific figures with set dimensions
Activity 4: Students will be solving a mystery using clues provided on the task cards. Students will be constructing a figure using color tiles based on the area or on set dimensions.
Activity 5: Students will be solving a mystery using clues provided on the task cards. Students will be constructing a figure using a geoboard or geoboard paper based on the area or on a set of dimensions.
