Description
Area and perimeter math coloring sheets provide engaging practice for 4th and 5th grade math students. These unique, easy-prep math color by number coloring sheets and digital color by number are more engaging than regular math worksheets!
- In these area and perimeter activities, students solve 15 or 20 area and perimeter problems, self-check and then color.
- Students will know whether or not they solved correctly - if their answer is incorrect, they won't find it on the coloring sheet or the digital coloring page!
- Coloring helps bring mindfulness, wellness, and quietness to 4th and 5th grade math classes, AND coloring in math has been shown to help reluctant students feel more comfortable with math!
Check out the Preview and video demo above to see what's included and to see how the digital version works (students will need to know how to use the "Fill color" feature).
- A second print version was added after the video preview was made.
⭐️Don't need the digital? Check out the print only version.
These area and perimeter problems require students to:
- Calculate area and perimeter of rectangles
- Find missing side lengths
- Find perimeter when given area and a side length
- Find area when given perimeter and a side length
- Solve word problems
This easy-prep area and perimeter resource includes:
1) 2 print versions:
Print version A
- Problem sheet with 20 questions
- Coloring sheet
Print version B
- Problem sheet with 15 questions (different from Version A; a little less challenging)
- Coloring sheet
2) One Slides version:
- Same problems and same coloring as print version - problems and coloring are all on one slide
- Students type their answers in the answer box
- Students use the ‘Fill color’ bucket to color the shapes
- Questions are not editable (they are in the background) but the shapes and numbers in the pattern ARE movable.
- Link to Slides is after the print items in the PDF download.
- If you aren't using Slides in the classroom, you can download the Slides file as a PowerPoint and use in the same way as in Slides.
3) One coloring page with no numbers, so students can color for fun, create their own color by numbers, or for you to create your own color by number activities for your classes.
4) Short perimeter and area activity page:
- A great way for students to discover that rectangles can have the same perimeter but look different and have very different areas.
- Can be used to lead students to a discussion of the best shape to use when one has a specific perimeter but wants the greatest area possible.

What teachers are saying about this resource:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“This was a great resource to supplement my teaching and use as a work sample for summative purposes. It really allowed me to see where my students were at at the end of my teaching and which concepts I needed to revise. Thanks!”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“Super fun and engaging! I bought another resource from this seller and loved the quality- I appreciate the consistency. Excited to use these again and again!”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️“I liked the students were given word problems and had to solve them before they could color. This made it more engaging and students were also given the option to not color if they chose not to. Overall it was a win win in my classroom."
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"Love, love loved it. Perfect for fifth graders' area and perimeter review, especially with missing numbers. I love the parts of they have to find the answers and color them because still they need to think about how to do it correctly and discovered that not the same answer will give them the same color. This is a great resource. This was one of the TEKS low on my STAAR test, so now I know how to work it better next school year. I would like you to make more of these."
