Description

My class had a blast with this. I projected the first ten pages and we we took "college notes". Since I noticed that it was difficult for the kiddos to memorize the difference between a column and a row, I used singing and dancing. We created movements for the words: row and column. We used those movements when we sang our rows and columns song to the tune of Wheels on the Bus. So much fun! I printed the last three pages as practice. The students loved getting their crayons out to make their own arrays.

My students really enjoyed this introduction to arrays. Yours will too! A wonderful addition to your curriculum. Super fun way to get the kiddos prepared for multiplication.

2.0A.C.4 Operations & Algebraic Thinking
Work with equal groups of objects to gain foundations for multiplication.
4. Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.
