Description
Auditory processing disorder (APD) is a term that refers to problems in how the brain understands speech. The sounds may be loud and clear. But people with APD don’t pick up on the subtle differences between them.
Looking for fun engaging, auditory memory task cards for your students? Name That Nursery Rhyme..." Hickory Dickory Dock", will help develop your student’s auditory memory skills by improving their ability to recall information from what they heard. These task cards target recalling the wrong nursery rhyme phrase and students have to remember the correct word/phrase from memory.
The teacher reads the nursery rhyme card, I recommend the teacher reads it first so the student can rely on his/her hearing to remember the rhyme before the student completes the task cards. After you read the student the rhyme, they must find the mistake in the rhyme. They will then put the correct picture that goes with the rhyme. For example, Hickory dickory dock, The mouse ran up the beanstalk (the correct rhyme is the mouse ran up the clock, so they will place the mouse running up the clock image on the square box on the task card.
These can be used independently, in small groups, and for one-on-one teaching instruction.
How to assemble this resource:
Print on cardstock for longer-lasting materials, laminate, and cut (the student cards and the teacher cards, the teacher cards can be placed on a book ring for easier access and no loss of or mixing up materials.) I recommend only printing the interactive pieces on regular paper. Printing and laminating on cardstock did not adhere properly to the paper as well as I thought it would which led to me taping them before my son could even use them.
