Description

Are you teaching all about Australian Animals? These fun directed drawing projects can help you integrate art, creativity and writing! Choose from 10 different cute critters and let your students' creativity shine!

THERE ARE 10 MAIN PICTURES TO DRAW

For each drawing, select from one of 4 projects

  • classic directed drawing
  • big draw
  • draw and write OR
  • Read-Draw-Write

Directed drawing allows young students to feel successful on their journey learning to draw and helps to motivate their writing.

The classic directed drawing has the steps and room provided for students to simply draw, following the steps.

Big Draw provides the steps on one page, and a page sized, bordered worksheet for students to create a large artwork.

Draw and Write has a blank space for students to draw (using the separate page of steps) and a few lines to write a sentence or two.

The "Read, Draw, Write" style worksheet encourages students to read the words in the word bank, follow the directed steps to draw a picture (and they may add additional drawings) and then lines are provided for students to write a sentence or two about their picture or the topic.

Directed drawings included are:

  1. kangaroo
  2. koala
  3. echidna
  4. emu
  5. bilby
  6. quokka
  7. platypus
  8. wombat
  9. frilled neck lizard
  10. kookaburra

You can encourage your students to add their own individual features on their drawings and create interesting backgrounds and scene extras.

Drawings are whimsical.

Students loved learning how to draw various Australian animals in the classroom. The writing paper was a great touch to allow them to write a key detail about their animal research1
