This is fantastic! While I agree that the font size is small, there is so much material covered and it would have meant much more paper used. I also love that you can edit it to make it appropriate for your individual classroom! I thought $5 was a BARGAIN!

This is a great resource and I am looking forward to using it at the beginning of the upcoming school year with new staff. It is a very comprehensive handbook.

This training manual provides a *lot* of information that is useful for staff. Unfortunately, it is extremely text-heavy and lacks a lot of visuals or images that could be used to increase comprehension and retention. The worst part of it is the font choice: it is difficult to read, doesn't fit with the theme of the product, and doesn't have a lot of spacing between lines or sections or a level of text hierarchy that allows readers to quickly locate important sections, terms, etc. This product has the potential to be extremely professional in appearance and the chosen clip art, font, and page frames completely undermine its content (which is especially disappointing because it's a resource specifically for working with disabled individuals, so readability is key). Just as a final note, I also think that some points need a bit more research from the viewpoint of autistic individuals. If you're making a handbook on an autism classroom, you need to include input from autistic individuals, because they are going to provide first-hand knowledge of student needs and techniques that work best. One example of this is the inclusion of ABA information/instructional overview. The autistic community overwhelming advocate for the use of Identity-First Language, instead of Person-First Language (so autistic person is preferred and person with autism is not). They also overwhelmingly are against ABA, view it as abusive, and studies have shown that autistics who undergo ABA therapy are significantly more likely to develop PTSD or demonstrate PTSD symptoms later in life. Pros: Very thorough. The sections on general classroom guidelines, data collection, increasing independence, and roles & responsibilities are very informative, complete, and well-written. I also really like that the section on communication discusses that an autistic individual may not be able to use a word in different contexts and covers alternative forms of communication (AAC, PECS, ASL, etc.). With some updating and more autistic input, this could be one of the best classroom handbooks for teachers of autistic students. I think including sections on sensory needs, techniques and tools used to increase focus and participation, splinter skills, and sections on ways to improve the school community to be more accepting would be awesome additions!

Bought this solely for my own information/education. This is a great resource for OT students during their rotations!
