Description
Autobiographies are a great way to engage students in writing about real-life events. To be successful during the writing process, most students need to be taught in manageable steps and be able to see the difference between good writing and mediocre writing. This resource will allow you to do just that!
Using Step-by-Step Autobiographies, you can guide your students through the autobiography-writing process in a way that is not overwhelming or confusing. Students will begin with an introduction and be introduced to criteria using a rubric. To effectively learn about the rubric and expected criteria, students will be involved in assessing three sample autobiographies of different levels. Students will use the templates for brainstorming, interview a family member, and finally, write and edit the autobiography.
BONUS: This resource includes a PowerPoint presentation that outlines the entire writing process. Teachers with access to a projector and screen, interactive white board or classroom computers can use the PowerPoint to supplement the autobiography teaching process. However, this resource can still be used without the PowerPoint as well.
Enjoy!
