➡️ Back To School Human Bingo: Students circulate the room to find classmates who fit the categories listed on the bingo card and have them sign their sheet. The goal is to complete a line vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Once a line is filled, students call out “BINGO!” and take a seat. This activity encourages movement, conversation, and quick connections.
➡️ Alphabet Introductions: Students think of words that begin with each letter of the alphabet that relate to them in some way. During attendance, they can share a few of their most meaningful words with the class or a partner, making this a simple and effective icebreaker.
➡️ Would You Rather...: Students work in pairs to discuss fun “Would you rather” questions. Each student chooses their preferred option and explains their reasoning. This low-stress activity helps students practice communication while getting to know their classmates.
➡️ Lost Student Wanted Poster: Students create their own “Wanted Poster” in case they happen to go missing at any point during the year. This is a fun and silly way for students to share personal information that will help classmates and teachers “find” them. Students draw a picture of themselves and include details such as a description, known hangouts, personality traits, known associates, interests, and more. A second poster template is also included where students can draw a large photo of themselves and add a reward for their return.
➡️ Last Year Flashback Goal Setting: Students respond to prompts about what they remember from the previous school year and use that information to set goals and create a plan for improvement. You can check back in with students after a few weeks or months to see the progress they are making.
➡️ Back to School Internet History: Students imagine what their internet browsing history might look like and write down their top three websites or Google searches that reveal information about their interests. They explain why they like these sites or how the searches relate to them personally. These make great back-to-school bulletin board displays.
➡️ Get To Know Me Cake Layers: Just like a tiered cake, students’ personalities are made up of many layers. Using this metaphor, students respond to prompts that reveal different “layers” of their identity and help classmates learn more about them.
➡️ Summer Snapshots: Students choose two memorable moments from their summer, draw pictures of the events, and explain why each moment is meaningful to them. When finished, students share their snapshots with the class.
➡️ Hello My Name Is...: Students circulate the room and talk to at least four different classmates. Their goal is to learn something interesting about each person by asking thoughtful questions. Students record the names of the classmates they spoke with and what they learned. During attendance, students share one of the facts they discovered.
➡️ Back To School Hashtags: Students write five social media-style updates based on specific hashtag categories that relate to their interests and personalities. This modern, engaging activity helps students share about themselves and looks great displayed on a classroom bulletin board.
➡️ Discussion Roll: Students work with a partner and roll a die to determine which discussion question they will answer. They spend 3–4 minutes discussing each question, then roll again for a new one. At the end, students write and share what they learned about their partner.
➡️ Classmate Interview: Students pair up and interview each other using four guided questions. They take notes during the interview, and during attendance, each partner shares what they learned about the other student.
➡️ Class Rules: My Thoughts: Students share their opinions about classroom rules and procedures related to late work, discussions, attendance, lateness, school and personal property, and general expectations.

➡️ A Letter to Future Me: In this two-page assignment, students write a letter to their future selves to be opened at the end of the school year. On the final day of class, students read their letters and reflect on how much they have grown.
