Your students will be learning a lot of information as they look for all of the Civil War battle names hidden in this puzzle worksheet. Each battle is noted with the dates it was fought and in which state it occurred, so students are exposed to additional key information as they are having fun searching.

Crossword puzzles make great no prep activities for early finishers, bell ringers, morning work, handouts, homework, unit or lesson plan supplements, sponge activities, introductions to new topics, and sub files and can also be used for a quiz.

The 20 hidden words are: Antietam, Atlanta, Chancellorsville, Chattanooga, Chickamauga, Cold Harbor, Corinth, First Bull Run, Fort Sumter, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Ironclads, New Orleans, Second Bull Run, Seven Days, Sherman's March to the Sea, Shiloh, Spotsylvania, The Wilderness, and Vicksburg.

The words are hidden in all directions and there may be some overlaps making this a challenging word search.

Great way to get students familiar with the words especially at the beginning of a unit. My students love to complete word searches. We make competitions out of it and the students love it! Its amazing how something like a word search is a great learning tool and keeps them busy.
