Description
Topic: Solving Two-Step Equations
Main Concepts: solve, inverse operations, opposite operations, variable, constant, term
Building Thinking Classroom (BTC) Notes encourage students to dive deeper into their learning experience by individually crafting meaningful notes that are geared to helping them understand content deeply and thoroughly.
Notes are split into 4 quadrants:
- Fill It In -- a thoughtfully crafted question (or set of questions) that includes fill in the blanks at specific points to purposefully foster critical thinking skills
- Work It Out -- a thoughtfully crafted question (or set of questions) that includes a specific targeted skill that allows the student to actively solve a problem on their own
- Find Your Own -- an area with specific criteria that directs students to create or identify their own example of the required skill
- Things to Remember -- an area for students to create meaningful notes that are specific to their individual understanding of the given topic in their own words
The beauty of BTC methodology is that it gets students engaged in their own learning by allowing them the opportunity to think deeply about how to tackle any given topic. Because of this, these notes will innately become a personalized experience for each student. With that said, the notes can also be used in a collaborative fashion (individually filled in, then "checked" and consolidated into a copy for whole-group reference). The provided key will show solutions for only "Fill It In" and "Work It Out" sections as they are more directed in possible solutions than the open-ended "Find Your Own" and "Things to Remember" sections.
Included in your purchase is:
- A blank copy of the notes
- A key of the "Fill It In" and "Work It Out" quadrants to help fill in the notes
Who can use this and how can it be used?
Your purchase permits you and all of your students to use these notes within your classroom. At no time may you resell these notes or any content within the notes as your own or use/include it in any manner that is reproduced outside of your classroom.
