These Math Icebreaker activities may be used during the first few weeks of school. They offer a variety of ways to collect and organize primary student data. You are encouraged to keep these activities on display in preparation for “Meet the Teacher” or Curriculum Night. Activities include: Designing a Name Glyph (students represent personal data in bubble letters and display them as a border), Treasure Bag Sort (students learn to organize and make conclusions based on data), What's Your Name Worth? (students give numerical value to their names while exploring mode, median, mean and range), We're Amazing (learning to gather, sort and represent data while displaying the data in a variety of ways).
