Description

20 task cards all about using balanced hangers to solve equations! Use with centers, small group instruction, enrichment, intervention, or review!

I developed this resource to use with the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum, which begins teaching solving equations with the visual of balanced hangers. Even without that curriculum, I find that this is a great stepping stone for all students, particularly visual learners.

Have students use a variety of methods to solve to differentiate - labelling shapes, crossing out the same shape on both sides to keep balance, write an equation that represents the figure, etc.

Includes color and black and white task cards, recording sheet, and answer keys.

Cards are formatted four per page. Simply print and cut!

(I laminate cards to reuse year after year!)

This resource includes fabulous fonts created by KG fonts!
