Description

Hit math and social studies content at the same time with this bartering math activity! Students will use the four operations to determine equal quantities of goods and services from colonial Virginia. This activity makes a great addition to a colonial life lesson or a math station!

Two differentiated versions are included:

  • a set of matching cards and an accompanying worksheet on which students can glue the cards when finished
  • a worksheet (students determine the missing numbers to make the amount of items in each trade equal)

For a fun twist on this activity, just print one set of cards and have partners with matching amounts find each other and "barter" their items!

Answer keys are included.

This resources supports 2023 Virginia Math SOL 4.CE.1 and 4.CE.2 and 2023 Virginia Studies VS.4.
