Description

Welcome to the Base Ten Show! Your students will love this interactive google slide that reinforces CCSS.NBT.B.2 -Numbers & Operations in Base Ten. Students will demonstrate their understanding of place value of two-digit numbers in this adorable theater scene. On the stage are a SmartBoad with a two digit number and an easel. Off to the right (backstage) are their manipulatives: ten rods and ones. Students will build the number by clicking the base ten blocks and dragging them to the easel.

Directions for use:

Use this product as an assignment in your Google Classroom, on Seesaw, or any other platform that you use to assign to your students. This product has 50 usable slides (51 with the credits/acknowledgements page). To assign only the selected number of slides as an assignment, click the selected slides (hold Ctrl button for multiple selections), go to file, make a copy, then selected slides. Be sure to make sure the share settings are set so that your students will have access. When assigning in Google Classroom as an assignment, click "make a copy for each student." When assigning on any other platform, assign with a forced copy so that each student will have their own workspace and not disrupt your original copy or each other's.

Use for:

There are so many uses for this product. I use this as individual practice during asynchronous learning. You could also use this for whole group instruction by sharing your screen on Zoom or Google meet, or on your SmartBoard for in-person learning. While this is ideal for first grade, this serves as a great introduction to place value for kindergarten for your higher level students or as a review for students in upper grades. Therefore, this can be done in small group instruction for those with a targeted need in this concept. Another option is to put the blocks on there and share in "present" mode for an actual Base Ten Show!

Logistics:

The background is securely fastened to prevent any movement when clicking and dragging on the screen. The numbers are editable. The base 10 blocks are stacked so that students will have what seems as an endless supply. When students make a mistake and want to put the block back, it is easies to teach them to just click the "undo" symbol (at the top under file).
