Description

In this project, students will calculate the extrapolated runs for the 2014-2017 seasons of Houston Astros players. They will calculate mean, mean absolute deviation, create a scatterplot, find the linear regression, create a trend line, find and explain the correlation coefficient, and determine and explain if there is correlation or causation. There is a website link at the bottom of the first page in the document you download. I created this as a resource for students as they complete the project. There are several videos, links to websites, etc. The Home page would be a great intro to the project for students to get excited about what they are going to be doing. The project essentially asks the students to calculate the information listed above and use that to support whether they think Sports Illustrated was justified in claiming the Astros would win the 2017 World Series in the article written in 2014.
