This MS PowerPoint (ppt) presentation covers the methods and steps that students can use to solve right angle trigonometry word problems that involve the normal or basic trig functions (sine, cosine and tangent) as well as the inverse trig functions (inverse sine, inverse cosine and inverse tangent). The slidepack begins with 3 slides that review the 7-step word problem solving technique I have my students learn and use. Several slides are then provided that review basic triangle labelling as well as a review of the basic/normal and inverse right angle trig functions using SOH-CAH-TOA.

I typically use this ppt slidepack in my Math 2, Math 3, Algebra 2 and Geometry classes toward the end of our study of right angle trigonometry. It is a very detailed, step-by-step, fully animated ppt presentation and includes two (2) example word problems that use the normal of basic trig functions (sine, cosine and tangent) and two (2) example word problems that use the inverse trig functions (inverse sine, inverse cosine and inverse tangent). The slidepack animations are intended to keep the students focused and alert. There are also 4 practice word problems on the last slide for the students to complete on their own. An answer key is included for these practice problems.

I always print out a hard copy of the slidepack for my students so that they can follow along on their copy and make notes on it, as desired, as I go through the presentation. The ppt presentation includes and highlights all of basic steps I have my students use to solve various trig word problems. The native MS PPT file is included to allow the teacher to modify the slidepack as desired. There are 16 total slides included.
