Description
Thank you for visiting my store.
Students love coding with the Bee-Bot* and you will love that they are reviewing necessary skills while having fun! Students will draw a card with assorted U.S. coins and/or a dollar bill, add the total, find the corresponding value on the mat, and program the Bee-Bot to that position on the mat.
This file includes 36 task cards with various coins and dollars for the students to count and match to the mat. Also included are 36 picture cards with the money values to make up to a 4 x 9 mat. Just pick and choose which ones you would like to target or print them all. I have also included a “start here” card and one blank card (print as many as you need). I like to use a blank card near the start so that even if a student draws a card that is near the start, they will need to use multiple steps to program the bee bot to the correct card. You might also want to include some blank spaces in the middle of the mat and add an obstacle that must be factored into the program. Each card is 6” x 6”, the distance the bee-bot moves with each command. You can print the cards you want to use, glue them together, laminate them, and you’re ready to go. Or, if you have the pre-made mat from Terrapin*, you can cut off the glue lines and place them under the vinyl on your mat. Finally, I have included a reference sheet with a picture of the front and back of each coin as well as its name and value. I have included these in three sizes: 1 per sheet, 2 per sheet, and 4 per sheet. You might find it useful to keep this resource near the mat when students are learning to count the coins. Please note I have included pictures of the fronts and backs of coins, but only the front of the dollar bill. None of the cards include a picture of the back of the dollar bill.
*Bee-Bot robot and Terrapin mat are not included*
I have also included an Easel Assessment if you would like to test this skill after reviewing it with the Bee-Bot. The easel assessment includes a total of 38 slides. This includes 21 slides to solve for the value of images of various money combinations with the dollar bill and coins. In the remaining slides, students must name the coin and the value based on the image shown. Feel free to select which slides you wish to assign to your students.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I value all feedback. I hope you find this to be a useful resource.
