Are you looking for a fun way to incorporate coding into your curriculum? This product is designed to be used with Bee-Bot coding robots and will coordinate well with color word recognition. This mat would work well at a Daily 5 Word Work station and includes 11 colors plus the start here square.
Each page includes a 15cm by 15cm picture square which will need to be printed and then assembled to create a Bee-Bot mat. Squares may be put in any order you'd like and also include an overlap tab to help you line up your pieces. Extra tabs can be trimmed off. Another option would be to print and laminate each square and place under a piece of vinyl that has been marked off in 15x15 cm squares. This will allow you to move pieces each time you use the mat. Vinyl can be purchased at a fabric store- I recommend 12 gauge vinyl for durability.
Also included are 2 sets or word cards. The first set provides added support for your students as the color words are written in the matching color of the smiley. The second set of cards only outlined in the matching color and can also be printed in black and white to provide your students with the opportunity to use their reading strategies/sight word recognition.
To utilize the mat, students will pick a color word card and then program the Bee-Bot to travel to the corresponding smiley on the mat.
