"Very well done! Has all the beginning band stuff you need for the beginning of the year. I'd love a version that started with Concert Bb and F as the two starting notes. Easy for brass and flute!!"

I was looking for something to start my instrumental students on before they get into more complicated method books. Starts with basic information like opening your case properly, the parts of the the instrument. This booklet has assessments built right it. Great resource.

Great value
I really enjoyed using this method book! The only problem is it waits until the very last lesson, which is simply note naming, to remove the letters under the notes. Unfortunately I didn't catch until the end and some of my students have been reading the letters the whole time and not the notes. I would say use the letters on the first couple of exercises each lesson and then remove them on the next 2 or 3. Other than that, I like how it laid everything out and paced it!

We have used this pre-band method book this year and has given our students a solid foundation prior to getting into our beginner book. The pictures, videos, and assessments are awesome.

I used this with my beginning summer band camp. I like that it has photos, detailed explanations, and QR codes to videos to reach all kinds of learners. I also like the pacing compared to typical beginner methods.

This pre-method book has been an absolute game-changer for me and my students! I love that the VERY basics are covered in detail with photos of an actual person opening the case, assembling the instrument, and holding it correctly. My students were actually able to follow the steps on their own to get their instruments assembled on the first day of class and I felt so much more comfortable sending them home knowing they had this resource available to walk them through and avoid damage! The introduction of sounds and rhythms is working so well for them too. We haven't finished the book yet, but we're making great progress! I can't say enough good things about this pre-method book!
