Description

There's always one (or a few) in every class that just needs a little more than our typical classroom management strategies. What do we do with the one who can't keep their hands to themself, who won't stop shouting out, who refuses to try on any assignment? You know.... the ones who make you want to pull your hair out!

Sometimes these kids need their day chunked into more manageable pieces. Stopping a specific behavior for the WHOLE DAY seems way too hard, so they just won't even try. Breaking up the day into smaller chunks with a behavior chart like this will help these kids see that they are capable of reaching their goals, one step at a time!

This editable behavior chart is an easy to use, printer friendly, effective system to teach your kids how to make smart choices.

How does it work?

  • Set a goal for your student as an "I Can" Statement
  • Fill in your daily schedule
  • Set a simple reward system that your student would be interested in working for.
  • Throughout the day, ask the student to color in or put a sticker on the popsicle face that matches their effort towards their goal.
  • Celebrate at the end of the day (if earned) and the end of the week (if earned)

Tips for Rewards:

  • Start SMALL- so the student will feel the success.
  • Gradually increase the number of smiley popsicles needed to earn the reward.
  • EXAMPLE: in my class, we start with 5 smileys a day for a gummy worm. IF they get five everyday of the week, then they can choose a friend and have lunch in the classroom with me. The week after, I will move it to 6 smileys needed. Some kids might need to start small for a few weeks and that's okay! Eventually you will see when they are ready to move up.

What's Included:

  • Editable PPT presentation
  • Monday-Friday Daily Chart
  • Editable Reward Sign

I wish more parts were editable, but it was really a great resource for tracking behavior.
