Description

Teaching behaviors…what a mess! At least it is for my 5th graders in Texas. This set of pictures comes with lesson plans and a teacher key that give you a clear guide on how to effectively use the sorting cards to best guide your students through the sticky mess of whether or not a behavior is learned or inherited.

I’ve also thrown in a set of pictures that introduce inherited traits. My students didn’t just have a hard time figuring out if the behavior was learned or inherited. They also have a hard time figuring out if the given example is even a behavior at all. They confuse traits with behaviors. So I teach it a different way, a way that clears up the confusion and misconceptions.

This is a set of 36 cards, 3 sets of 12: Inherited Traits, Learned Behaviors, & Instinctual Behaviors. The examples included in each set vary from fairly obvious to really tricky. This activity can last 1-3 days, depedning on you and/or your kids' needs. I hope this lesson helps your kiddos as much as it helps mine!

Feel free to leave feedback or rate the review. I LOVE hearing how teachers use the lessons I make! If there's anything you need, let me know. I'd like to help. :)

Happy teaching!

Heather
