Behavior Reflection Substitute Edition

Description

After not being in the classroom, one of the last things a teacher wants to see is a bad note left on your desk about students misbehaving while you were out. After a few bad notes, I decided that talking to them wasn't enough. I made this reflection worksheet for student to take accountability for their behavior in class when I am not there. They have to identify the behavior and why they did it, and reflect on the impact it made on themselves, their classmates, the sub and myself. They also will have to think about how they are going to change to avoid this situation in the future. I make a point to give this sheet to students who received any misbehaving notes the next time we are in class. I also explain why they are doing it and that it will be shared with their parents, so they must take it seriously!

I hope this reflection can help any struggling teacher who gets these notes left on their desks too! My students know that their actions will have consequences, and in English class, it will always involve thinking, writing and lots of explanation!

This was a great tool to hand to my misbehaving students the day after I had a substitute. They know better, and we've had tons of post-sub discussions, but this was the first time they had to individually reflect on and explain their behavior. I loved this and will use it each time a student's name gets written down in the future.
