Description

These Behavior Sorting Task Cards help students learn to identify, discuss, and understand positive and negative behaviors using clear visual examples.

Each task card shows a single behavior and gives students the opportunity to decide whether the behavior is “Good” or “Not Good.” This opens the door for meaningful conversations about behavior, choices, and how actions can affect others.

What’s Included

  • 28 behavior task cards
  • Each card includes:
    - 1 clear image showing a behavior
    - 2 response options: Good or Not Good
  • Color and black-and-white versions for printing flexibility

Skills Targeted

  • Identifying behaviors
  • Understanding social expectations
  • Cause and effect
  • Emotional awareness
  • Expressive language
  • Social skills

How to Use

  1. Print and cut the task cards
  2. Laminate for durability and reuse
  3. Students:
    - Look at the behavior shown
    - Use a clothespin or dry-erase marker to select Good or Not Good

Discussion & Teaching Opportunities

These cards are ideal for guided discussion, such as:

  • What do you see happening?
  • Why might this behavior be helpful or unhelpful?
  • How could this behavior make others feel?
  • What could be done differently?

There are no “trick” answers - this activity is about learning and reflection, not punishment.

Ideal For

  • Special education classrooms
  • Autism support classrooms
  • Early intervention
  • Social skills groups
  • Classroom management support
  • 1:1 or small-group instruction

Teacher Tip

Using visuals helps students who struggle with abstract language better understand expectations and behaviors in a concrete, supportive way.
