Description

This Berlin Wal resource features a 1 page reading the history of the Berlin Wall from when it was first built through its fall in 1989. Also included is a worksheet with answer key and Interactive Notebook page for students to cut out and create a wall with!

The reading focuses on key details students should know about why the Berlin Wall was built, what is was like, its purpose, and how and why it fell.

The worksheet features a nice mix of reading comprehension questions, vocabulary and other reading questions, and opinion questions that ask students to think deeper about different aspects of the Berlin Wall. A key for this is included for your convenience.

Finally, the Interactive Notebook page has students cut out a visual of the wall to glue into their notebooks as a pop-up page that they decorate with graffiti and then describe what Berlin was like on both sides of the wall on their notebook underneath. This is a wonderful way to engage students and allow them some creativity in demonstrating their understanding of the reading! Some tips on how to use each resource are included at the end.

My students was not overly impressed with this reading. I did use it for sub work, they may have done better if I had been in class that day.
