Description

This is a great counselor lesson activity to check students’ understanding about the difference between a Big Problem and a Small Problem. I teach this concept at the beginning of the school year with my younger students in K-2, but it could also be used with older students.  If they are able to tell the difference between these types of problems, they will feel more confident in knowing how to handle them.

When talking about solving a small problem where no one is hurt or in danger, encourage students to come up with a way they will try to solve it on their own.  A few ideas could be to try and ignore it, to ask them to stop, or tell them how it makes you feel.

When talking about solving a big problem, you want students to always know that they need to tell an adult right away.

This sorting activity comes in a paper or digital version! The digital version is on Google Slides.
