A coding activity for 40 sight words using the binary alphabet code.
Content:
10 "Binary Bingo" cards
1 Alphabet Code Card
2 "Binary Bingo Codes" cards with 40 codes (20 codes on each page).
1 "Binary Bingo Answers" card.
Procedure:
Laminate all 14 "Binary Bingo" pages.
Cut out the 40 Binary Bingo codes.
Place the 40 Binary Bingo codes into a container.
How To Play:
Each participant takes 1 binary alphabet code card.
Ask participants to choose a "Binary Bingo" card.
Each student, one at a time, chooses a binary bingo code from the container.
Example: The binary code for the word "about" is:
01100001 (This represents the letter a)
01100010 (This represents the letter b)
01101111 (This represents the letter o)
01110101 (This represents the letter u)
01110100 (This represents the letter t)
The participant refers to the binary alphabet code card to decipher the code.
If the code word appears on her/his card, the participant places the binary code on the word.
If no word is found, put the binary code back into the container.
First child to decipher 9 binary codes is the winner.
Correction is done by the participants.
