Description

This is a postcard activity I created to use in an academic camp on biomes. In the activity, students write home about a new species of plant or animal that they have discovered in the biome they are visiting. They must name the new species and describe adaptations that the organism has to survive. They then draw and color a picture of their organism on the front of the postcard.

I used these full size, but they can easily be scaled down to an actual postcard size.

This would work very well as a higher-order thinking formative assessment after learning about each biome. They would also look very nice hung up in the hall for conferences or parent's night.

Such a FUN and easy lesson for my students! Even though the age range stated says 2-5th grade, my 9th and 10th graders enjoyed this activity and really blew me away with their creativity and drawings. I am saving their post cards because of how well the completed this activity! Thank you for the freebie- I cannot wait to see the designs and imaginations that come from this lesson in the future!
