Description

Do you need a simple addition to your space or basic astronomy unit? This space unit includes sections on planets, constellations and astronauts. Each section includes engaging and interactive activities with fun solar system clip art.

I have listed everything included below. Make sure to check out the preview to see everything that is included as well. Let me know if you have any questions!

PLANETS

-Word Wall Cards:

Solar System, Sun, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Star, Astronaut, Space Shuttle, Constellation, Astronomy

-Posters:

Each planet and the sun has it's own full page poster.

-2 Readers:

--"Our Solar System" is an interactive reader. Each planet has its own page. Students will write on each page which planet number it is from the sun, what color it is and one cool fact they learned about it.

--"My Book of Fun Planet Facts" is an easy reader. Each planet has it's own page and includes one fun fact about that planet.

-My Planet Report

This can be done as a take home activity, or small/large group after learning about the planets in class. One report could be completed for each planet, or students could select one planet for their report.

-Planet Headband

Students color and cut out each planet, glue them on a strip of construction paper to wear as a headband.

CONSTELLATIONS

-12 Constellation Cards

These cards can be used in many ways. Use toothpicks and marshmallows or playdough for students to create them in a hands-on way.

They could also use pokey pins to pin them onto black paper to be hung up in the window.

You can also print out 2 sets to use as a matching game.

-2 Make Your Own Constellation Worksheets

Students can draw and name their own constellations, then create them using toothpicks and marshmallows/playdough.

They can also turn their name into a constellation by graphing the letters in their name.

ASTRONAUTS

-Can, Have, Are page

Use this page to introduce astronauts to your class. See what they already know, then do it again after learning about them.

-Astronaut Ice Cream Survey

Teach your students about foods astronauts eat including Astronaut Ice Cream. Let them try a piece of it and then vote if they liked it or not.

-Astronaut Smart Art

Students complete a creative writing (or they can draw pictures, or do both) then attach their astronaut helmet and gloves to their paper to be displayed in the classroom.
