Subtopics include: breaking down body composition into lean body mass and fat mass, different kinds of fats in food, factors that influence body composition, insulin & glucose, calories, measuring body composition, and common myths.

Note: This resource directly aligns with the Saskatchewan Grade 6 curriculum (Physical Education PE 6.3), but is easily adaptable to other Canadian or theUnited States Curricula.

Saskatchewan Curriculum:

  • PE 6.2 Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of inactivity on body composition and how to make healthy choices for a balanced self, including regular participation in movement activity, that effectively and safely affect (maintain, increase, decrease) body fat composition.
