This book baggie homework sheet allows you to record each book that a student reads for homework. It is intended to be completed with an adult to encourage parent participation. This homework sheet is used week after week, being returned with the book inside a large gallon sized baggie. It is a simple, inexpensive way for children to read with their parents, learn fluency and comprehension skills, reinforces weekly phonics instruction, and encourages parent-child interaction. It is also a wonderful way to keep communication open with parents!

I have found this to extremely useful in kindergarten. As a teacher who does not believe in homework for kindergarteners...it is a great way for children to showcase their abilities in reading. The books I include for them are the Tucker sign books that we practice weekly, and when they have mastered it...they take it home in their book baggie! THEY LOVE IT! Parents LOVE IT! It is a non-stressful way to encourage children to read. It only takes a few minutes of my time, too.
