Description

Give your students book recommendations, check in with your readers, and celebrate their success with this pack of reader communication cards. These convenient cards will complement any independent reading program by streamlining your book recommendations and helping you communicate with your readers without disturbing the peace & quiet of reading time. Simply keep a stack of these cards handy and pass them out anytime you notice students are in need of book recs, support, or praise. :)

This resource includes 6 different reading check-in cards. Here's what you'll get:

  • Book Rec Request Card: When students would like to request some personalized book recommendations for you, they can fill out this card and give it back to you so you can round up some ideas. (I highly recommend keeping these in an accessible spot so students can request book recs whenever they need them).
  • Teacher Book Rec Cards (2): When you notice a student is in need of some great book recs, fill out these cards to give personalized book recommendations!
  • Check-In Cards (2): When you notice students are struggling, fill out these cards to check in with them in different ways.
  • Praise Card: When you want to celebrate students' progress and reading success, fill out this card to make your readers feel special.

Any cards you'd like to see added to this pack? Let me know in the Q&A and/or leave ideas in your review! :)

Met expectations
Great value
This resource was almost what I needed for check ins with my students, but didn’t quite hit the mark because the specific prompts didn’t fit quite right. I wish I could have edited the templates.

I love using the small comment cards with my students to avoid drawing attention to a student from the whole class while they are all reading.

These cards were perfect to have on hand! I printed and cut out a bunch, and I leave them in a little box by my rocking chair. During independent reading time, I'll sometimes fill them out and pass them out. My students love receiving these and they keep the lines of communication open about books. Thank you for all of your resources that have helped our classroom environment to be a rich and positive one.
