These Opinion Writing Book Reviews are perfect for an opinion writing activity for 2nd 3rd 4th grade.This book review activity spotlights the books in your class library as your students use their opinion writing skills to recommend books to their classmates with an interactive activity. Children focus on giving 3 strong reasons for reading the book, telling about characters the reader will meet and their traits, and making a book-themed bookmark to be used while reading the book. They also rate the book 1-5 stars according to the included chart. I used this project in April and May, but it would be good for any time of the year. HIGHLIGHT READING IN YOUR CLASS!
Children create a wall hanging that their favorite book sits in. They create removable objects that tell about the characters and parts that they liked while reading it (without giving away the ending!). They also make a special bookmark for the others to use. Classmates have fun pulling out objects to read and using the bookmarks to decide.
I like projects that are ready to go, so I have included a colorful, cute title page "I'm Sure You'll Love This Book" that you can just mount on construction paper to hang up with your students' work. I have included thorough directions with pictures and suggestions. There is also a poster of reminders for your students of the directions for taking care of the items. You need only provide 12x18 construction paper to mount the projects. Everything is printable and READY TO GO for EASY PREP!
-Note: Some pages will need to be printed on white cardstock to be sturdy enough for little hands. You will also need colored construction paper 12x18 inches for each child. The pages get glued or stapled onto the construction paper.
These look great on a bulletin board or posted around your room or library.
