Description
These Bossy R readers are a fun way to engage students in practicing these tricky vowel sounds! I love to put these out for my fast finishers, but they also work well in centers, in a small group, or whole group lesson. When I teach students to read these readers, I have them say, “(the r-controlled sound) is in (the word).” So the picture below would be, “-UR (say the -ur sound) is in nurse.”
Each reader has 5 items for each letter/sound. Feel free to leave off pages that don't work for you or if you need to save on paper! I have tried to make these as holiday-free as possible so all students can use the readers.
These readers focus on the sight words: is, in.
