What is Backwards Decoding?

Backwards decoding is a blending strategy where students read the rime then the onset. This makes students really notice specific sounds in words.

This includes 20 slides!

I love to use these with my small reading intervention group. This strategy really helps students focus on the sounds and show students how words are built.
